2024 Primary Mail Ballot Administrative Error

Due to a processing error on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, roughly 863 voters may have received an incorrect ballot. These ballots may contain district contests for which the voter is not eligible to vote. This will not affect the voter’s ability to cast a vote for statewide or presidential contests.

The Board is notifying all of the potentially affected voters, and providing them with replacement ballots with the correct contests. Affected voters may vote and/or return the corrected ballot in the following ways:

  • Mail
  • Personally deliver their ballots to any dropbox or Satellite Election Office, which will be open until 8:00 P.M. on Election Day;
  • Alternatively, the affected voters can choose to bring their balloting materials (envelopes and ballot) to their polling place on Election Day to be surrendered, at which point they will be permitted to vote on a voting machine. If they do not return either ballot but forget to bring it with them to their polling place, they may also vote by provisional ballot.

Due to the limited time remaining, the Board strongly encourages voters to personally deliver their ballots. All ballot drop off locations can be found at http://vote.phila.gov/ballot-drop-off.

Replacement ballots such as those described above will be compared to poll book voting records after Election Day before they are canvassed.
